Indian Warriors at the Grass Dance

 

Here for your browsing pleasure is a grand photo of Indian Warriors. Mr. Bear-that-Runs-and-Growls, Mr. Warrior, Mr. One-Tooth-Gone, Mr. Sole (bottom of foot), Mr. Make-it-Long. It was made in 1890 by Grabill, John C. H., photographer.

The photo documents Five Grass dancers in ceremonial clothing, probably part of Big Foot's (Miniconjou) band at a Grass Dance on the Cheyenne River, S.D.--on or near Cheyenne River Reservation.
