Deadwood, Dakota Territory

Here we present a stunning image of The Race. The great Hub-and-Hub race at Deadwood, Dakota Territory., July 4, 1888, between the only two Chinese hose teams in the United States. It was taken in 1888 by Grabill, John C. H., photographer.

The image shows Two small teams of Chinese runners pulling a hose and wagon, racing down main street; large crowds of spectators line both sides of street.
