Oglala Chief

Oglala Indian Chief

Here we present an historic image of Chief Rocky Bear's home. It was taken in 1891 by Grabill, John C. H., photographer.

The image shows Rocky Bear, Oglala Sioux Chief, standing to the left of a Euro-American man on horseback; three tipis in the background--probably on or near Pine Ridge Reservation.

We have created this collection of images primarily to serve as an easy to access educational tool. Contact curator@old-picture.com.
