Here for your enjoyment is a highly creative photograph of Gideon Welles. It was created between 1855 and 1865.

Gideon Welles was the Secretary of the Navy under President Abraham Lincoln. He was largely responsible for building an effective Iron-Clad Navy, and was successful in blockading Southern Ports. Secretary Welles was one of several people in attendance at President Lincoln's Deathbed on April 14, 1865.
