Washing Wheat

Washing Wheat

Above we show an interesting photo of Women Indian Washing Wheat. It was made in 1905 by Edward S. Curtis.

The illustration documents Two San Juan Indians dipping baskets of wheat into an acequia, or irrigation ditch, to dissolve dirt and to float away debris from the wheat kernels.

We have compiled this collection of artwork mainly to serve as a vital educational resource. Contact curator@old-picture.com.
