You are looking at an absorbing image of Distant view of Sebastopol with the Mamelon & Malakoff Tower The lines of Gordon's Battery in the middle distance. It was taken between 1855 and 1865 by Fenton, Roger, 1819-1869.

The illustration presents Distant view of Sevastopol' looking towards the Dockyard Harbor with the Malakoff, the principal Russian fortification, just right of center.
