You are viewing an impressive image of Yorktown, Virginia (vicinity). Group of contrabands at Allen's farm house near Williamsburg Road. It shows a black woman with a washboard, and another with a tub. They appear to be washing clothes. A black man is seen with an axe chopping wood. It was taken in 1862 by Gibson, James F., b. 1828.
