Here we present a dramatic image of Falmouth, Virginia Captain Charles H. Howard, aide to General Oliver O. Howard, on horseback at Army of the Potomac headquarters. It was taken in 1863 by O'Sullivan, Timothy H., 1840-1882.

The image shows main eastern theater of war, Burnside and Hooker, November 1862-April 1863.
