Here we present a stunning image of Private Sampson Altman, Jr., Company C, 29th Regiment Georgia Volunteers, C.S.A.. It was taken between 1860 and 1865.

The image shows Pvt. Altman, who fought in the battle of Shiloh, died April 23, 1863 from disease.
