Allan Pinkertonof the Secret Service on horseback

 

Here for your consideration is a pleasing picture of Antietam, Maryland; Allan Pinkerton ("E. J. Allen") of the Secret Service on horseback. Pinkerton was a friend and confidant to Abraham Lincoln. It was created in 1862 by Gardner, Alexander, 1821-1882.

The photograph presents the main eastern theater of the war, Battle of Antietam, September-October 1862.
