You are looking at an artistic picture of James River, Va. Sailors on deck of U.S.S. Monitor; cookstove at left. It was created in 1862 by Gibson, James F., b. 1828.

The picture presents Photographs of the Federal Navy, and seaborne expeditions against the Atlantic Coast of the Confederacy -- the Federal Navy, 1861-1865.
