Above we show a remarkable photo of Arlington, Virginia; Brigadier General Gustavus A. DeRussey (third from left) and staff on portico of Arlington House]. It was made in 1864.
The illustration documents Washington, 1862-1865, view of the defenses of Washington. Arlington House was the home of General Robert E. Lee. During the war, the home was taken by Union Officers, and was eventually turned into Arlington National Cemetery.
