Portrait of Rear Admiral David G. Farragut

Above we show a majestic photo of Rear Admiral David G. Farragut, officer of the Federal Navy (Vice Admiral from Dec. 3, 1864)]. It was made between 1860 and 1865 by Brady National Photographic Art Gallery (Washington, D.C.).

David Farragut was famous for the Battle of Mobile Bay. During the battle, a subordinate told Farragut that the bay was mined with torpedoes. Farragut responded with his immortal quote, "Damn the Torpedos, full speed ahead".The illustration documents United States Naval Officer.
