Here we present a dramatic image of Charleston Harbor, S.C. Rear Admiral John A. Dahlgren (fifth from left) and staff aboard U.S.S. Pawnee. It was taken in 1863.

The image shows Federal Navy, and seaborne expeditions against the Atlantic Coast of the Confederacy -- the Federal Navy, 1861-1865.
