Above we show a remarkable photo of Washington, D.C. Six marines with fixed bayonets at the Navy Yard. It was made in 1864.

The illustration documents the Federal Navy, and seaborne expeditions against the Atlantic Coast of the Confederacy -- the Federal Navy, 1861-1865.
